Design of an ultra-compact laser cutting station
ALPhANOV has developed a laser machining station that allows quick and easy use.
The defining feature of the M-LMS (Micromachining-Laser Microscope Station) system is its modularity and versatility: this station has been created in such a way that it can be adapted to your needs throughout your project.
This new system offers a variety of possibilities for your applications, such as:
- Cutting and drilling into hard, low thickness materials such as metals, ceramics or minerals.
- Cutting and drilling with dimensions of around ten µm per cm.
- Cutting various shapes: squares, discs, half-discs and quarter-discs
Thanks to the station's laser, other applications such as marking or engraving transparent materials are also possible.
M-LMS was developed as a first-line solution for domains requiring picosecond pulses at a wavelength of 532 nm at the request of the University of Lille and its UMET team (Terrestrial and Planetary Materials). This system enables fine preparation of joints and samples for experiments in diamond anvil cells requiring metal drilling for diameter openings down to 50 μm. The samples themselves, metallic or ceramic, have diameters of between 10 and 30 μm.
The opto-mechanical system is prepared to accommodate and work with a source of femtosecond pulses and other ultraviolet and infrared type wavelengths.
What’s more, the microscope column can be replaced with a galvanometric scanner therefore allowing fast, precise machining and complex shapes.
The M-LMS station therefore offers new possibilities for prototyping achievements but also for research and development. Its small size allows it to be placed on a table.
